What Will Matter In 2012?

We were thinking about what we could share in our last blog post of 2011, and the normal tradition would be to part with our lessons and learnings of the year. On the whole, it has been a pretty exciting year all round and we have learned a great deal and accomplished some things we never anticipated happening.

So to close off the year, we have made the decision that in 2012, we will BE our message and everything Ego Invenio stands for given that we have spent a lot of time discovering who we are, as individuals and as a business. And we have realised that, if you are not certain of who you are, it is pretty difficult to just be. Therefore, it was appropriate that we stumbled across something that helped us to put this into words and this is what we would like to share with you as a New Year dawns.

** How will the value of your days be measured?

  • What will matter is not what you bought but what you built.
  • What will matter is not what you got but what you gave.
  • What will matter is not your success but your significance.
  • What will matter is not what you learned but what you taught.
  • What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.
  • What will matter is not your competence but your character.
  • What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many feel a lasting loss when you’re gone.
  • What will matter is not your memories but the memories that live in those that loved you.
  • What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.

Living a significant life does not happen by accident. It’s not a matter of circumstance, but of choice. Choose to live a significant life.

** Adapted from the poem written by ethicist Michael Josephson, founder of Character Counts

Some pretty cool words and thoughts to carry forward into 2012, don’t you think?

And as the year comes to an end, may we also take this opportunity to thank you for sharing an amazing one with us.

  • Thank you for your support and encouragement – your comments and feedback keep us pushing ourselves to discover more to share with you.
  • Thank you for believing in what we do, even when at times, we have not believed in ourselves 100%.
  • But most importantly, thank you for being YOU and being one of our Ego Maniacs – people who are on a journey of Personal Excellence Through Self Discovery.
  • And thank YOU for paying it forward and sharing our message with other people too.

May 2012 bring you true health, lasting freedom and a NEW WAY OF LIFE in whatever you do, knowing that we are here to support you all the way.
